The $1,500 Blog Post Contest

I am excited to announce the $1,500 blog post contest on The Talent Buzz. This time around, the stakes are higher as the winner will receive a $1,500 Visa Gift Card for the winning post. Yep, that’s right, $1,500.

This year is no different. Hundreds of predictions have been made about what 2010 holds for jobs, employment, and the recruiting space. While it’s not rocket science to discuss social media in recruiting or a big focus on retention as the economy turns here are several links to that will give you some thought provoking conversation starters, or something to read during your lunch break.

If you haven’t used your job board coupons, time is running out! In an e-mail earlier this week, SHRM sent an e-mail blast notifying Recruiters that the job board coupons from their job posting center, powered by JobTarget, expire at the end of the year. Seriously.

I never thought I’d live to see the day where job boards would publish coupons. That’s the case with the latest coupon book from SHRM and Job Target, containing over 1,000 coupons for job boards.

If Recruiters have time in a down economy to clip coupons - “Houston, we have a problem”…

Earlier today, Jobing.com announced the acquisition of the Cheesman Group, including the popular and sometimes controversial blog Cheezhead.com. Cheezhead founder, Joel Cheesman, also wrote an official post earlier today announcing the acquisition.
Earlier this week, Ed Frauenheim and Rick Bell published a story on Workforce titled “A Tighter Rein on HR Blogging?”
And in August, the HRMtoday community sold on Ebay.
While these stories have no direct connection with each other, they play a role as the industry evolves with perhaps a new set of guiding principles - in defining the future strategies for HR and Recruiting blogs, as well as the so-called communities they serve.

Posted by JasonWith hundreds of investments you can make with online advertising, the CareerBuilder ad deal with Facebook, hasn’t proven to be one on the top of my list. What was touted earlier this year as an innovative way to break into the social media and networking space hiring - and the next big thing for CareerBuilder clients - is proving otherwise on the surface.
From Super Bowl ads to the iPhone application, they deserve some credit for trying. But better placed ads on Facebook haven’t induced a high level of attention from job seekers on this popular social networking site.
When you break down the results, here are 5 reasons this might not make the top of your list:
